The boxer is regarded by many as the ideal family dog. The breed is exuberant, loyal and fun-loving, always eager to join in any family activity or game. They are very affectionate with their families, but not everyone is prepared for their level of activity and energy. They always want to be with their people, and do not like being outside alone without another canine companion or human friend.  The same qualities and characteristics that endear them to those who love them may make them unsuitable for some households.
